This session will focus on exploring the art of collage, using methods ranging from image transfer to traditional cut and paste technique. Students will begin with creating their own base surface through screen printing and/or painting, then go on to choose imagery from photos, magazines, and printed images provided by the artist. Students will be encouraged to bring in their own photographs and images to work with, or even draw their own images. We will be exploring different mediums such as gold leaf, oil pastels, and multiple acrylic texture mediums. We will discuss elements of digital collage as well, and the students will be shown free aps and Photoshop alternatives they can use at home! Each student will create a series of collages and an artist statement for their portfolios. Be sure to bring a sketchbook!
