Encaustic Painting: Charcoal & Oil Pastel Surfaces

August 10 & August 11

Saturday 10:00am–4:30pm, Sunday 1:00–4:00pm

In this two-day encaustic workshop, you will be guided through developing quick, smeary, fun charcoal drawings from a subject, with the goal of improving your eye and your understanding of the elements of dynamic design. You will then create encaustic paintings and burnish your charcoal designs onto the surface. We will then play with over-fusing and accidental imagery, and finally, you will be shown the many ways to approach color in your encaustic paintings, and many surprises and much color play will ensue. Don't miss out! Waxy, smeary, colorful fun awaits you in this summer workshop.

Linda Lenart

Linda Lenart

Linda is an artist living in Oberlin, Ohio, who began teaching encaustic workshops ten years ago under the name Luminous Encaustics. Her workshops continue to focus on the beauty and simplicity of color and wax. She loves to reawaken play in adults and help them to shift into their creative zone of discovery, where anything is possible. Her goal is to guide each student into the unfolding their inherent giftings and she finds encaustic wax is the perfect vehicle to do that. Learn more about her and her workshops at LuminousEncaustics.com, and on Instagram at luminousencaustics.

scholarships & aid

FAVA reviews and considers all application for scholarship assistance. While we may not be able to provide a complete scholarship to all those who request it, we are committed to making our classes available to as many people as possible – regardless of individual financial circumstances. For this reason, it is important that all scholarship requests are received well in advance of the class starting date, so we may allocate our available funds accordingly. We may consider any of the following factors when determining eligibility for scholarships:

  • Annual family income
  • Individual or special circumstances
  • Whether the applicant qualifies for the National Free/Reduced Price School Lunch program
(for students age 18 & younger)

**FAVA also encourages applicants to consider partial scholarship assistance, in which case the student only pays some portion of the class tuition.

All information will be kept confidential and will be used solely to determine the amount of scholarship assistance to be provided.
