Spinning with Karen.
Saturday November 5th from 1-4pm.
Ages 15+
The class is a 3 hour open session, for beginners and experienced spinners alike. This class will be tailored to the attending student's needs. There will be a few spinning wheels available to be reserved on a first come first serve basis for beginners, with Karen's help, to get a feel for spinning. Experienced spinners can come and work on technique and get questions answered. If you have a wheel, Gina Talandis will be on hand to oil, tune up and wipe down your wheel.
Supplies needed/estimated costs: Spinning Wheel if you have one, fiber to spin if you can. If you do not have any materials, please come anyway and use FAVA's materials.

Karen Long
Karen Long has been a spinner for over 50 years. Spinning on all sorts of spinning wheels and drop spindles, she is also an accomplished natural dyer. She uses her hand-spun to create all manner of beautiful weavings. She has taught spinning and weaving in the Oberlin area for many years. She has also been a major influence in several of the local guilds, such as the Lorain County Spinners and Weavers Guild.
Gina Talandis
Gina Talandis has been a fiber artist for over 20 years. She began her journey as a weaver and expanded her expertise as a spinner and needle felter. She has given workshops on weaving with a rigid heddle loom, drop spindle, spinning and needle felting. She participates in numerous demonstrations through her guild sharing her enthusiasm for the fiber arts. Gina is also a wood craftswoman and designs products to make her weaving and spinning more efficient. Gina can be found at home in her garden, workshop or at her spinning wheel or loom in Wellington, Ohio. Check out her website fiberwoodandclay.org for more resources.
FAVA reviews and considers all application for scholarship assistance. While we may not be able to provide a complete scholarship to all those who request it, we are committed to making our classes available to as many people as possible – regardless of individual financial circumstances. For this reason, it is important that all scholarship requests are received well in advance of the class starting date, so we may allocate our available funds accordingly. We may consider any of the following factors when determining eligibility for scholarships:

All information will be kept confidential and will be used solely to determine the amount of scholarship assistance to be provided.
