Love Notes and Butterfly Wings (Ages 8+)

Love Notes and Butterfly Wings

Ages 8 and up. February 4th from 12-4pm.

Decorate butterflies with paint, markers, and colored pencils. Using old books an magazines, we will cut the shape of the butterflies out and connect three layers together with the decorated butterflies on top, leaving the wings free to bend up. The students will then write little love notes to themselves or to someone else under the top wing. After making five, we will then glue the butterflies to 11x14 illustration board.

Oliver St. Clair

Oliver St. Clair

Of both Okinawan and Irish lineage, Oliver is part of a long line of visual and musical artists. As a child, she learned traditional Japanese ink wash from her grandmother, which eventually developed into a focus on watercolor painting. Further into adulthood, she explored additional paper-based artistic practices including lithography, letterpress and book binding. More recently, fibers-based work became the primary means for Oliver to express her vision of nature and our emotional world, while also fostering community in teaching. Always finding ways to infuse beauty into the world, Oliver also focuses her creative energies into commissioned projects, floral arrangements and tending to her garden.

scholarships & aid

FAVA reviews and considers all application for scholarship assistance. While we may not be able to provide a complete scholarship to all those who request it, we are committed to making our classes available to as many people as possible – regardless of individual financial circumstances. For this reason, it is important that all scholarship requests are received well in advance of the class starting date, so we may allocate our available funds accordingly. We may consider any of the following factors when determining eligibility for scholarships:

  • Annual family income
  • Individual or special circumstances
  • Whether the applicant qualifies for the National Free/Reduced Price School Lunch program
(for students age 18 & younger)

**FAVA also encourages applicants to consider partial scholarship assistance, in which case the student only pays some portion of the class tuition.

All information will be kept confidential and will be used solely to determine the amount of scholarship assistance to be provided.
