Ceramics Surface Decoration (All Levels Welcome) (ages 14+)
Ceramics Surface Decoration
This is an intermediate class, but beginners are welcome.
Ages 14+
You will be making tiles and simple hand-built forms to learn various surface decoration techniques. These include how to add wax resist decoration, wax resist etching, carving, sgraffito, slip trailing, additive sculpting on your pieces and more.
Students should bring an apron or large towels and a small notebook.

Erin McCarty
Erin McCarty is a mixed media artist from Henrietta, Ohio. She is the Director of Education and Outreach and an instructor at FAVA. She completed an MFA in Ceramics from West Virginia University in 2020, as well as an BFA in Painting and Drawing from Bowling Green State University. She specializes in Ceramics, Painting and Drawing. Her 3D artwork emphasizes texture, repetition and mark making on hand-built ceramic structures. The goal is to provide both the maker and the viewer a whimsical, saturated, and tactile experience as they interact with her objects and installations. Save
