Intermediate Wheel Throwing: Lidded Jars (14+)

March 4, 11, 18.
Tuesdays 5:30-7:30pm

This class is intended for people who have experience with wheel throwing basic forms (mugs, bowls, plates, etc.) and are looking to learn some more advanced forms. In this 3 week class we will learn to throw jars with 3 different styles of lids. The skills you learn can be used in a wide range of forms such as honey jars, sugar jars, tea pots and so much more! Lids can be a little tricky at first, but with some patience and practice the possibilities are endless!

Please bring an apron, wear messy clothes and a notebook or journal.

Halli Kromer

My name is Halli Kromer, and I am a ceramic artist and business owner from Amherst, Ohio. I graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2022 with a BFA in Ceramic Studio Arts. My speciality is wheel-thrown functional ceramics such as dinnnerware and cookware. Most of my work is comprised of minimalist forms, colors and textures, that allow for the work to be timeless in both function and design. I have experience teaching handbuilding and wheel throwing and I enjoy seeing people of all ages discover their own unique approaches to ceramics.

scholarships & aid

FAVA reviews and considers all application for scholarship assistance. While we may not be able to provide a complete scholarship to all those who request it, we are committed to making our classes available to as many people as possible – regardless of individual financial circumstances. For this reason, it is important that all scholarship requests are received well in advance of the class starting date, so we may allocate our available funds accordingly. We may consider any of the following factors when determining eligibility for scholarships:

  • Annual family income
  • Individual or special circumstances
  • Whether the applicant qualifies for the National Free/Reduced Price School Lunch program
(for students age 18 & younger)

**FAVA also encourages applicants to consider partial scholarship assistance, in which case the student only pays some portion of the class tuition.

All information will be kept confidential and will be used solely to determine the amount of scholarship assistance to be provided.
