This year, we’re shaking things up a little and trying something really
different; a project that we’re calling Imaginarium, which is a multi-generational exhibition of imaginary creatures and fundraiser rolled into one.
We’ve asked FAVA kids to draw us a picture of their own original imaginary creature, and then tell us about it. We’re then pairing each child with an adult artist, who will create their own imaginary creature based on the child’s ideas. The pieces will be displayed side-by-side in a special three-week exhibition which opens on Saturday, April 22nd.
The exhibition ends on Saturday, May 20th, 2023, with FAVA’s fundraiser, where the adult imaginary creatures will be available for purchase through an in-person silent auction. Winning bidders will have the option to keep their imaginary creature or donate it to the child whose original creature it was based on. We hope this will allow folks who love to buy art, but are no longer collecting, to participate and also pass on their love of original art to the next generation.
The fundraiser will include live entertainment, cotton candy, lots of things to nibble on, and a lovely selection of wine and beer. In addition to the silent auction, there will be raffle items and special pieces of art for sale. Also new for this year, FAVA is partnering with our friends at the MAD* Factory to provide entertainment to children of parents who wish to attend the fundraiser.
