Artist Statement:

My subject matter tends to incorporate some form of the natural world, whether it’s the night sky or a curious rabbit. I focus on incorporating movement and unique expressions. COVID-19 has made my job as a firefighter/paramedic much more stressful. I have found it harder to concentrate on my artwork and that it takes me longer to complete a piece. But the actual artistic process remains a form of self-care for me.

Bio:

Oberlin, Ohio based Chad Bowman is a firefighter and linocut artist. Over the past twenty years, Chad has primarily practiced drawing. In 2018 he began experimenting with linocut printmaking and found it both challenging and stress-relieving. He enjoys blending his drawing skills with linocut techniques to produce handmade prints.
