In this intermediate class, we will continue to explore a variety of Chinese calligraphy fundamentals of ink brush painting techniques. Students will learn how Chinese character writing is cohesively connected to the painting style in Asian art and how the character writing styles impacted contemporary Asian art, especially in the early 20th century Chinese artist's work, such as in Qi Baishi and Zhang Daqian's artworks.
By the end of class sessions, each artist shall create a work that reflects what they have learned. This class is very beneficial to all artists in all mediums.

Jingjing Luo
Luo, Jing Jing is a self-taught visual artist since a child. She moved to the US from Beijing nearly a decade ago. Her vivid complexes of memories exist, vanish, and then reappear, ancient and yet modern, transformed yet the same.
These memories result from a dark, intimate, distorted and spatial equilibrium that are reflected in each work. The feelings of simplicity and unfinished fluidity echoes in from both her cultural backgrounds which revolves around the flowing traces spontaneously, stimulating the strokes, colors and textures in the paintings, the flowing motion creating ongoing waves one after another, each unfolding with new possibilities, increasing the capacity to evoke much deeper and various associations and interpretations in the mind of the viewer. Luo's work celebrates the beauty of death and birth that is presented in the invisible energy of nature.
Jing Jing has a very well established music career as a highly awarded composer in today's music world.
Saatchi Art, and The Carlos Reid Gallery.Com, The Patron Art and The Big Cartel.Com represent Luo's Artwork's and the sale.
Jing Jing holds a master and a PhD degree in Music composition, a second master degree in education from Columbia University, The Juilliard School, Stony Brook University, New England Conservatory of Music and Cleveland State University.
Jing Jing lives and works in Oberlin, Ohio. USA
