Painted Rock Garden - (free activity)

ALL AGES WELCOME

Join in the fun and help FAVA create a painted rock garden! With an acrylic paint kit provided by FAVA, select rocks or stones and paint a flower, foliage green leaves, tree bark or bugs like dragonflies, bees or lady bugs or birds. Once delivered back to FAVA, a rock garden installation is planned.

FAVA Materials kit will include :

• washable acrylic paints,
• brushes
• a color wheel picture as a guide for mixing colors.

You will need:

• Rocks (normally rougher surface) or stones (smoother surface)
• a paper or ceramic plate to mix colors
• container with water to rinse brushes in between colors
• a cloth or paper towel for blotting brushes

When registering please select which pickup date/time you prefer and the number of materials kits needed. Pickups scheduled for Tuesdays 5-7pm and Thursdays 11am-1pm.

Painted rocks can be dropped off at FAVA on Tuesdays 5-7pm and Thursdays 11am-1pm.

Instructions:

• Wash and dry stones/rocks (Image #1 example of smoother stones)
• Dot out a bit of each color (size of dime) on the plate leaving space for mixing (image #2)
• Mix the colors you want to use. You can also paint the surface a solid color then create your design. Easy mix colors red+yellow=orange, blue+yellow=green, red+blue=purple, white+any color makes a pastel color (image #3)
• Tip if using multiple layers, it is best to let each layer dry. For example, dots or accent colors
• Return to FAVA designated drop off area and check website for project view date.
