(6 Video Sessions via Zoom)
In this online class with instructor Louis Cunningham, students will learn about pen and ink techniques for enhancing their drawings. Pen and ink is an often overlooked form of drawing, but can be used to great effect to bring drawings to vibrant life. One does not need expensive equipment--a regular ballpoint pen will do just fine. There are various techniques for using a pen effectively, and practice is necessary to become precise. Students will study two of the most widely used pen techniques, cross hatching and stippling.
Materials needed: Paper, pens (ballpoint or special drawing pens are fine)
Links to Zoom video sessions will be shared with students via email each week.

Louis Cunningham
Louis Cunningham is a full-time elementary art teacher with Lorain City Schools, and this is his fifth year working with FAVA! Before moving to Oberlin, Louis lived and taught in New Jersey, where he grew up. He attended Montclair State University in NJ, where he received both a Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art and a Master's Degree in Art Education. Louis is especially adept at illustration and cartooning, and his favorite medium is pen and ink, though watercolor paints are a close second favorite!
