Beginning with an overview of basic color theory, including the properties of color, color relationships and color interaction, this workshop will consist of projects involving the creation of designs, emphasizing composition and the use of various shapes and color schemes. During video sessions, the instructor will cover theory and information on the use of acrylic paint and mixing colors from a limited palette of black, white and the three primary colors; then participants will work at home to create rough sketches and finished designs. There will be time for participants to share and discuss their design work during video sessions.
Materials included: acrylic paints (8 colors), palette paper, sketch paper, 2 brushes, Bristol paper, color wheel, mixing cups.
Materials must be picked up at FAVA. Students will be notified of scheduled pickup dates.

Jean Kondo Weigl
Jean Kondo Weigl is a painter and has taught several classes in drawing and painting at FAVA for adults and teens. Having received a BA in Art from Scripps College, an MA in Studio Art from Oberlin College and an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Utah, Jean’s teaching experience includes positions at Oberlin College, the Lorain County Community College, Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA) and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Her work has been exhibited in numerous local, regional and national shows and she is the recipient of grants from the Ohio Arts Council, Zygote Gallery and Press and the Yaddo Foundation. Originally from Oakland, California, Jean currently lives and works in Oberlin

While we may not be able to provide a complete scholarship to all those who request it, we are committed to making our classes available to as many people as possible – regardless of individual financial circumstances. For this reason, it is important that all scholarship requests are received well in advance of the class starting date, so we may allocate our available funds accordingly. We may consider any of the following factors when determining eligibility for scholarships:
