Learn to make your own single ply yarn to use for knitting, crocheting, weaving and other hobbies. Using a beautiful maple Snyder Turkish spindle that is an ancient tool that you keep, (from snyderspindles.com), and starter wool you can use to make your own yarn. The Turkish spindle is unique because when you are done spinning you take it off the spindle as a center pull ball. Examples of spinning other fibers and some spinning history will also be covered. Please bring small bag to use to take home spindle and fiber.

Gina Talandis
Gina Talandis has been a fiber artist for over 20 years. She began her journey as a weaver and expanded her expertise as a spinner and needle felter. She has given workshops on weaving with a rigid heddle loom, drop spindle, spinning and needle felting. She participates in numerous demonstrations through her guild sharing her enthusiasm for the fiber arts. Gina is also a wood craftswoman and designs products to make her weaving and spinning more efficient. Gina can be found at home in her garden, workshop or at her spinning wheel or loom in Wellington, Ohio. Check out her website fiberwoodandclay.net for more resources.
FAVA reviews and considers all application for scholarship assistance. While we may not be able to provide a complete scholarship to all those who request it, we are committed to making our classes available to as many people as possible – regardless of individual financial circumstances. For this reason, it is important that all scholarship requests are received well in advance of the class starting date, so we may allocate our available funds accordingly. We may consider any of the following factors when determining eligibility for scholarships:
