Maya Miller

Maya Miller

Maya Miller is a potter, sculptor, and writer from California. Currently a student at Oberlin College, Maya is studying Creative Writing, Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies, and Studio Art. Maya is inspired by words, color, sound, and shape and believes that there is beauty and inspiration in the mundane as well as the esoteric.

Maya's pottery is sold through SilverWear Gallery in Ojo Sarco, New Mexico and has been exhibited in the 2023 and 2024 High Road Artisans Studio Tour. Maya's studio experience ranges from interning at Green River Pottery to shepherding and maintaining the Oberlin Pottery Coop as part of the leadership team. Maya loves that so much of pottery-learning takes place in an informal exchange of techniques, tips, and advice and from allowing the clay itself to offer insights. Maya is hoping to provide students with the confidence and technique to begin making their dream dishes in clay.

scholarships & aid

FAVA reviews and considers all application for scholarship assistance. While we may not be able to provide a complete scholarship to all those who request it, we are committed to making our classes available to as many people as possible – regardless of individual financial circumstances. For this reason, it is important that all scholarship requests are received well in advance of the class starting date, so we may allocate our available funds accordingly. We may consider any of the following factors when determining eligibility for scholarships:

  • Annual family income
  • Individual or special circumstances
  • Whether the applicant qualifies for the National Free/Reduced Price School Lunch program
(for students age 18 & younger)

**FAVA also encourages applicants to consider partial scholarship assistance, in which case the student only pays some portion of the class tuition.

All information will be kept confidential and will be used solely to determine the amount of scholarship assistance to be provided.
